Trick or Treat!

Tonight was trick or treat and I just wanted to share some pictures. We made the rounds at the nearby apartment complex (definately the way to do trick or treating!!) and then to a local church for games and more candy! We've had way too much junk to eat and are all exhausted!!

Halloween at School

Emily got to go to preschool today even though it wasn't her regular day because they were having their "harvest party." They always get a piece of candy if they rest well and quietly at maptime. Emily almost always comes home with a treat. Today she announced no one got candy from rest time and do you know why?!?!?  I asked her way and she said, "Because we got lots of candy today on our "scab"enger hunt!!"

Hannah had her first school project presentation today. It was a character project. They had to pick a character from a book to write about and make a project. They dressed up as their characters today, gave their presentations for the class and had a costume parade for the school. Hannah was Samantha from the American Girl books! She was dressed as a wealthy young girl from 1904. I was so proud of her today! We had gorgeous weather and we are all excited about trick or treating tonight!

WOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They won! The Phillies won for MY HUSBAND!!! OK, maybe they had their own agenda and Steve Rau was not a part of it...but still. I am so thrilled. He loves this team, always has and the last time they won a World Series, he was 5 years old. I can't get over the fact that he is there. He saw history. He experienced his team doing this first hand. I'm thanking God for this gift for Steve. I am so happy for him. This is a dream come true for him...and my dream to see him so happy. Thank you, Lord!!!   Open-mouthed      Open-mouthed      Open-mouthed      Open-mouthed      Open-mouthed     Open-mouthed

non-partisan JOKE!

I heard this joke today...thought it was really funny!
The World Series got rained out last night. Steve and Dad sat in the 40 degree rain for six innings and get to go back again tonight to HOPEFULLY see the Phils become the champs! It's like two games for the (REALLY BIG) price of one! I see it as getting our money's worth from the ticket!  Wink Funny, it's probably the first sports game I've voluntarily sat through from beginning to end and THEN WATCHED THE HIGHLIGHTS! Wow, I really am becoming my husband. I even heard myself muttering to the TV last night things like, "Oh, why did you swing at that?!?" or "Come on, Chase, we need a hit!" Ha!!! Steve will get a kick out of that when I tell him! LOL!!

Here's the joke:

THIS IS A NONPARTISAN JOKE THAT CAN BE ENJOYED BY BOTH PARTIES!
NOT ONLY THAT-- it is POLITICALLY CORRECT!!

While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

'Welcome to heaven,' says St. Peter. 'Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you.'

'No problem, just let me in,' says the man.

'Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.'

'Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,' says the senator.

'I'm sorry, but we have our rules.'

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly & n
ice guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises...

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

'Now it's time to visit heaven.'

So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

'Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.'

The senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: 'Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.'

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. 'I don't understand,' stammers the senator. 'Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable.
What happened?'

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, 'Yesterday we were campaigning.. ..

Today you voted.'

Much Needed Getaway

I haven't had much to report the last several weeks. We've been busy. Just getting through one week after another. Steve and I are in the midst of rehearsals for the upcoming dinner theater at FLM and enjoying it...but of course it takes time and energy. Many days I just get to the end and drop in bed just to start over in the morning.

A few weeks ago we got some family pictures taken and I haven't gotten them back yet...I was kind of hoping to post them here and that's one of the reasons I haven't updated this blog. Since I still don't have them I thought I better write anyway! Hopefully the pics will be available soon, I can't wait to see them!

Steve's favorite sports team of all time actually made it to the World Series. The day after they clinched it I asked him if he thought of going. I was pretty much joking at the time and he laughed at me...like "yeah, right!!"

So that day I was thinking about the possibility and are there even tickets available? Low and behold there were, but boy were they expensive! After doing some finageling and asking some family to do this with me for Steve's Christmas present, I offered to him to go. Long story short he got tickets and is GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES TOMORROW!! I can't believe it. I am so happy. And to make it even better he is going with his Dad...from whom he gets his Phillies passion! It will be an experience of a lifetime for them and I can hardly stand it I am so excited for them. I wish I could be there to see Steve enjoy it, but there ain't no way! So stay tuned, I'm sure I will have some great pics to share this week!

And last, but not least in the way of news...thanks to some dear friends of ours Steve and I were able to spend the whole weekend alone at Niagara Falls. It is my favorite place on earth and I got to be with my favorite person on earth! I needed this break from the kids for weeks now...I feel like I've been running on "empty" for awhile. I was totally relaxed and the happiest I've been in a long time. I love my girls, but this just made our reunion tonight so much sweeter. I find it funny that I absolutely CANNOT help myself when it comes to taking pictures of the falls. They are so amazing...I have a million pics that all look the same and I know it...yet I can't help it! So I made an album of the most recent batch.

Thanks for reading and caring about our family!! We have a prayer request that I'd like to send out, but for now I'll call it an "unspoken" request. If you think of it, please pray for us. Thank you again so much!

Bridgette's Birthday

Our friend, Bridgette's 8th birthday was yesterday and we made the trip to Vestal to go to her princess party. It was held at a children's hair salon . The girls got their nails done, amazing hairstyles and the usual fun party stuff. It was so wonderful for those little girls! Well, and for the moms behind the cameras! Let me tell you there is an unconcious instinct to take a ridiculous amount of pictures that comes over a mom when her children are all dressed up! There also was Disney princess karaoke. My girls just loved it! I have a ton of pics and a few videos that just must be shared...
