    No TV Week

Hannah's school is promoting "No TV Week." That means for 7 days  no computer, video games, or TV. Hannah was really excited to do this and I have not once in the last 6 days heard her ask to watch TV. If they complete the week they get a free ice cream cone at the neighbothood ice cream place. HUGE incentive for Hannah! She is so excited!

The girls have been playing, coloring, and right now are creating with play-doh. But the downside for the mom is the constant presence of the children who seem to follow her around and talk to her every 2 seconds until she almost has a mental breakdown and not a thought or task goes uninterrupted!! The blessing in all this is Charlotte's Web...we have been at the show a lot this week and I can only imagine my  insanity had we been home every night!

But, I am really proud of them, Hannah especially. She wasn't sure about being in the show and has found that she loves it. Emily did fine the first 2 times and now has decided to cry everytime she goes on stage. I'm worried that she might not do it at all today. It would be a shame because she is a total , "Aww!" factor, but I won't force her to do it.

So only 47 more hours of No TV Week. We're gonna make it!

    Charlotte's Web

Emily and Hannah are in their first production together this weekend. They are going to be in FLM's children's production of, "Charlotte's Web." They are...get this...the baby goslings! They come onstage, wiggle their wings, and walk off...and they absolutely steal the show! Especially Emily. She is a foot shorter than any of the other kids and a guarenteed, "AAHHHHH!!!!"

Here are some pictures from rehearsal tonight. The show is this Friday and Saturday at 7:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 PM at Family Life Ministries.

    Eight Years

Eight years ago today Steve and I became husband and wife! Our ceremony was at 12:00 noon and it was beautiful. My gown was ivory with an empire waist and my girls wore long, flowy burgundy dresses. I had a bouquet of red roses and baby's breath. Something old: My Mom's ribbon from her wedding. Something new: My dress! Something borrowed: My Maid of Honor's bobbypins. Something blue: My new undies and garter.

Today we both took the day off and sent the kids to school/babysitter as usual. It was sooo nice to steal a vacation day in the middle of the week.

We made sure that we did not do chores around the house...and with the nice weather and rare day off that was a hard temptation to fight. We took a loooong walk from our house to Applebee's (probably about 2 miles), had lunch, stopped at Blockbuster and Walmart and walked home. It was nice to have that time to enjoy the day and talk. Then we picked up the girls and ate dinner together and came home to a quiet evening.

Steve is a wonderful husband who loves me so much. He is so good at assuring me of that and telling me how much the last 8 years have meant to him...and I share his sentiments.

This is one of my favorite days of the year...with all the special memories. It is so fun to reminisce about such a precious event. That gave us a precious marriage...and precious children...we are so blessed. And we are thankful.

    Home from vacation!

We are home from vacation and glad to be back. We had a great time...but it's always hard travelling in the car and living out of a suitcase for a week. Easter Sunday we visited Grammy and Grandpap's church where they have a big cross wrapped in chicken wire. Everyone adds a flower to the arrangement and then the cross is put outside on display. A great photo opportunity! We then headed to Virginia beach for 2 days. It was sunny, but really CHILLY!!!! The girls played on the beach and then had a nice hot bath in the whirlpool tub. So fun and relaxing!

Then we visited Jamestown Settlement for a day. Hannah was excited to learn about the REAL Pocohontas and John Smith . We toured sailing ships, heard them fire a real canon, and visited an Indian village as well as the English settlers' village. Hannah tried to be interested in everything, but she asked if we were ready to leave a lot! :) They were both troopers.

Then we spent 2 days at Grammy and Granpap's in Mercersburg, PA and 2 days at Nana and Grandpa's in Ephrata, PA. We tooks long walks, visited the park, had an Easter egg hunt, and played games. We finally made it back home late last night after a very fun and special week.

We are bavk to work and school tomorrow and as always there is laundry and unpacking to do! Hope you all had a blessed Easter!

Easter comes early at our house!

Today was Easter at the Rau house! We will be traveling tomorrow for our vacation at VA Beach so we had our Easter egg hunt this morning. Mommy hid all the eggs and gifts and the children set off to find them all...yes...Steve included!

When we came in we opened the eggs and saw that some had candy in them and some had notes telling us where to looks for the gifts and the baskets. It was a fun scavenger hunt. Hannah loved it...but we couldn't tear Emily away from the candy long enough to for her get into the scavenger hunt part!

We are all set to leave for our vacation this week. Steve is working tonight so we can't leave until he gets home late tonight. At the least the kids will be asleep...well, that's the plan anyway.

Hope you all have a blessed Easter as you celebrate this most joyful of holidays! He  is risen! Hallelujah!

    Happy Easter, everyone!

    Sharathon update

Sharathon ended very well. They were only about $150,000 short of their $1,2 million goal and I think that will come in no problem over the coming weeks. Praise the Lord! The ministry is really flourishing. Please keep praying for them.
